Scrapbooking

For my sister's 30th Birthday, I decided to make a special tribute album. Most of the pages for this 12x12 album were made from scratch using common tools in the scrapbooking world. And when needed, I would make my own templates and patterns for my paper piecing and background borders. I felt that most of the ideas I used, incorporated the feel of the type of album I wanted to create, that being a memory album of my sisters' life. In the end, I had much satisfaction in this project and it is a gift that I would recommend giving to the ones you love!

Watch Me Grow

This is the first page of my scrapbook. It is a sort of 'watch me grow page'. The top was cut off. It reads: Home Grown and then I used a black zig pen to write the school year next to the school photo (I think it shows up a little in the photo)The strawberry's were traced and cut from a homemade pattern with hand drawn (w/ zig pen) curly vines. The strawberry bloom at the bottom of the page is simply another homemade flower pattern with hole-punched circles glued on the center for dimension.

Life's Time Line

This was a fun page to construct. Begin by drawing horizontal lines across as shown on the picture. I started in the upper left side of this two page spread and began with the day of birth. Add significant dates or events in the childs' life and play around with pictures, stickers, and zigs to connect the dots.

Christmas ABCs

This was an idea I found on the internet. I used a mix and match of leftover childhood photos to create this page using the ABCs of Christmas poem was written in a white pen on green card stock and black zig around the white edges.

Classic Pooh

These two pages were dedicated to my sister's love of Classic Pooh. The page topper reads: Our Little Hunny. I used pooh quotes I found on the internet with stickers on the page. I know you can't read the poems in the spiral (from a template), but if you'd like to know what it says, just email me.

Good 'Ol Days

Ah, the Good Old Days. I used the pictures that I had left over to make these pages. The borders were made from a sticker and template kit I purchased from a local department store. I also experimented with dry brush stencil paint in gold for accent.

Sister's Quilt

This is the sister's page using photos of my sister and I. I used a quiltlike design. I used a poem that I found in a scrapping magazine to write on the hearts in between the pictures. This is a classic use of alternating squares and patterns for contrasting effects.Cut photos into squares, but when placing them on page, be sure to attach them at their point.

Disney's Magic

Disney Magic...simple circle cutters made this magic happen. I journaled memories of the vacation down the string of the balloon and accented with tiny disney stickers and shiny stars.

10 CATmandments

My sister's cat, ABBY is the theme on these pages using the 10 CATmandments. I found 10 commandment tablet clip art and pasted 10 of them to the pages with the CATmandments written in white pen on black paper next to each. And since Abby is notorious for bad moods, I couldn't resist journaling a few catchy bad cat phrases in thought bubbles above the photo!

Book Worm

My sister is a Reading Specialist, so for these pages, I chose a 'book worm' theme using shades of green cut into circles for a reading worm, (This took alot of time to cut out and paper peice together, but the end product is worth it) a chalk board with ABC written in white, and pictures within a picture book to connect the center of the two pages.

Flower Power

If Aunt's were flowers...I'd pick you! And 'A bloomin' good time' I used these pages to place photos of my sister with my two children. Accent with flower, ladybug, and butterfly stickers and just a straight green w/ hand-snipped green paper grass bottom border.

Embossed Heart Paper Piecing

For the final page, I used alot of layering of different size and shaped hearts to create a frame for this formal picture (again alot of paper piecing). At the top of the frame, I cut and pasted cherubs. This was a fun but time consuming page to complete. Throughout the scrapbook, I used more by way of layering colored paper over the white background, but for this page, I did use an embossed card stock paper in a dark moss green. The hearts and cherubs were cut from an cream embossed card stock.

I still have two other scrapbook pages that I need to have photographed (one is a Dr. Seuss page!!), so come back for a visit soon.
