You shall go to the ball...

...and have a ball while you are there!
Shower games are not always what I look forward to when I go to an event, but I knew I had to throw some entertainment into the mix of the day of my sisters' shower, so I did my best to make it fun without a whole lot of hassle (remember, our location was at a History House and not really condusive to alot of movement from the guests).
I resorted to mostly pen and paper games, which turned out to be alot of fun actually. I've given the exact games that I used on the day of the shower in case you'd like to use them for your event.
GAME #1 The first game we called, A Twisted Fairytale. It's one I wrote and is simply an altered version of the Cinderella story with multiple choice answers for guests to circle the answers they think will match the Bride-to-be. The one who matches the most answers with the Bride-to-be, is the winner! Here's how it works: simply read the story aloud to the guests (I found it goes easier if you just read it and pause at each multiple choice answer). Then re-read the story (or have the Bride-to-be read it) filling in her answers! Have guests count up the number they match with the Bride-to-be and award the winner a prize. Here is the link to the story, A Twisted Fairytale. Of course you can change the multiple choice answers or story line to fit your Bride.
GAME #2 The next game was one I used finding fairytale trivia questions off the internet. I altered some of them to make them fun and playful. This was to test the guests' knowledge of their fairytales. The game is called, Fairytale Trivia. Here is the link to the questions, Fairytale Trivia.
GAME #3 The last game we did, was a version of the memory tray game that is high on the list of games played at baby and bridal showers. But instead of a tray passed around with various items to remember, we had the bride wear an apron with various pins and clips, etc. scattered on her. She walked through the room giving each table the opportunity to see and memorize the items she wore before she left the room again. We called this game The Princess Bride because what Cinderella wouldn't be complete without a tiara, a few baubles for her fingers, and a magic wand to carry with her while she walked the room. The guest who wrote down the most correct items that the Bride was wearing, won the game!
Tip: Make sure you have extra prizes in case there is a tie! Also, if there are children at the event (or even teenagers) have a separate gift ready for them in case they win a game.
Idea! One other idea that I found on the internet that we used for this shower, was the padded hanger idea. (see picture) I purchased a white satin padded hanger and tied white satin ribbons from the wire hook. (I made the length of the ribbon longer so I could tie little love knots in the ends of a few of them) The hanger was passed around to guests before the Bride arrived. (sort of as an ice breaker) Each guest wrote their message to the Bride-to-be. Make sure the ribbon is thick enough for guests to write their message to the Bride-to-be and that you have a permanent fine sharpie. The special hanger will then be used on the wedding day to carry the Bride's dress to the church. For a do it yourself tutorial on the web check out this site: DIY
