Althorp, a Spencer home for 500 years, is Diana's final resting place. A sprawling private estate located in Northampton, Althorp now opens its' doors to the public. After her burial at the Round Oval (a man-made island with surrounding lake built in 1866), 1,000 water lilies were donated from Stow School for the area surrounding. The family also had planted, 36 oak trees along the ground up to the stables. A temple to the Princess stands next to the Lake where the area is open to the public each year from July 1 to September 1. Various other viewing areas have been arranged on the property for visitors to see first hand the impact Diana had in her charitable work, as a woman, and as a Princess. Flowers that were atop Diana's casket, from her boys |
Diana has now two flowers dedicated to her namesake. The first, 'the Princess of Wales Rose' was dedicated to her just prior to her death. It is a white rose with a cream center. The second, presented as tribute by the National Rose Society, is called 'England's Rose', and was introduced in the Fall of 1999. It is a creamy pink with a hint of apricot. If you have PSP and would be interested in tubes of the two roses, you may click here.
